Yes and I agree- the Gesundheit at the end was very stupid- and made no sense- an insult to the German language and Deutschland itself, i believe- no offense~
But overall I love this commercial (but only because of the Guy <3) hahaha

Peinlich, peinlich! I agree with Jill, these were probably the only two German words they thought Americans would recognize. And then the pronounciation “Strüsel”, voll daneben! Autsch!

Because the makers of the commercial used the only two German words most Americans would recognize? Correct usage be damned… I hate this ad more and more. I find myself flipping the channel when I see it.

this is an insult to the german language, one never ever says Gesundheit after a Danke schoen!!!

I’m sure he’s a nice guy, but the fact remains that the people who made the ad could have easily hired a German actor with an authentic accent. I have the same complaint about the stupid VW commercials with the talking Beetle.

The “chubby guy” happens to be a friend of mine. In real life, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more jovial person.

I am not a regular at IHOP. I can count the number of times I’ve eaten there on one hand, but I ate at an IHOP in Orlando the night after Halloween and had one of the best evenings in a long time. It was 3 am and our waitress had us in stitches. I had tears running down my face! And the food was good. I actually had the coffee cake pancakes that night. They were quite good.

I ‘ve never eaten at IHOP so I don’t care about the food they’re advertising. I just love the chubby guy in it! He’s so happy and he’s friendly to little old ladies. It just makes me smile.
