How not to flirt in German January 11, 2010

ALTA Translation’s blog has a fun blog post this morning on How NOT to flirt in German. Although to be perfectly honest the lines don’t work in English either. If someone used them on me I would groan and roll my eyes and excuse myself. 🙂 But it’s a fun read for an otherwise blah Monday morning.
The pun in “If I said that you have a beautiful body, would you hold it against me?” cannot be rendered in German, to my mind, though “würdest du es mich spürgen [sic] lassen?” is not without its charms 😉
What crap German…
This is amazing. Is it good for ALTA to get advertising even if it means demonstrating it can’t handle German?
It should really be called “How not to advertise your services” as a language services provider, in multiple respects. The comments at Margaret’s blog are priceless: http://www.transblawg.eu/index.php?/archives/3644-How-not-to-flirt-in-GermanDeutsche-Sprache-schwierige-Sprache.html
