I’m a huge fan of XKCD! But is it bad that the first thing I noticed was that the word “foreign” is misspelled? (Yes, I did remember to chuckle at the effect/affect joke afterwards.)

Gintautas, it’s just a standard turn of phrase in English. It even has its own entry in the Urban Dictionary and a Tumblr account.

I think the point is that the Grammar Nazi gets so caught up in the “effect or affect” debate that he/she manages to completely miss the misspelled word.
