New translation tool on the market November 11, 2014

There’s a new translation tool on the market. Bad Translator was developed by Ackuna Translator to show just how funny things can get with Machine Translation. Enter any text in English then click “Translate!” to start. The program translates the text back and forth using FreeTranslation.com, TransPerfect, and Yandex, then displays the final English translation.
Happy translating!
I’ve done the same myself before to illustrate the point – but manually, of course, and just going back and forth in the same language.
This site is to advertise a translation service, Ackuna. Unfortunately, what Ackuna offers is not much better: free translation that is crowdsourced to unpaid translators. On Ackuna’s site, we translators are encouraged to “increase our translation clout” by working for them – not sure how that works! – and even to “learn a new language” by translating their documents. Wow.
Crowdsourcing = stay far, far away. But the site is fun. Whether it is advertising or not.
Oh yes, definitely a fun site. I was just surprised that the product they were offering was barely one step up from the one they were dissing.
